BRI Pamulang Official Mentions Defamation When Asked to Clarify Alleged KUR Issues
Tangsellife.com - Efforts by the editorial team to confirm alleged issues with People's Business Credit (KUR) loans at the BRI Unit Serua, Ciputat District, South Tangerang City, have so far not yielded an official explanation from the bank.
Amidst an ongoing investigation, a BRI official sent a message alluding to the possibility of baseless reporting that could potentially constitute defamation.
Meanwhile, several questions posed by the editorial team regarding the substance of the loan issues have not been answered in detail.
Beginning with a Customer's Complaint About KUR Collateral
This case began with a report from the family of a customer with the initials L, who claimed to have experienced problems related to a People's Business Credit (KUR) loan with a Certificate of Ownership (SHM) for their house as collateral.
According to the family, the first loan of Rp20 million, applied for in 2019, had been fully repaid.
However, on a subsequent loan application of Rp30 million in 2024, the business being run encountered difficulties, leading to the credit becoming non-performing. Consequently, the house certificate used as collateral is reportedly threatened with auction.
Yanti (40), a family member of the customer, questioned this mechanism because, according to her understanding, KUR loans for certain amounts do not require additional collateral.
Banten Ombudsman States KUR Should Not Use Additional Guarantees
A similar statement was previously made by the Head of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia for Banten Province, Fadly Afriyadi.
In a WhatsApp message received by the editorial team on May 18, 2026, Fadly stated that KUR loans should not use additional guarantees.
"It is not allowed. It must be returned immediately. If BRI refuses to return the certificate, please report it to the Ombudsman," Fadly wrote in the message.
This statement became one of the bases for the editorial team to request an explanation from BRI regarding the mechanism of KUR disbursement at Unit Serua.
Editorial Team Seeks Clarification, BRI Has Not Provided Substantive Answers
During the investigation, the editorial team submitted several questions to BRI regarding:
- the mechanism of KUR loan disbursement;
- the use of the Certificate of Ownership (SHM) as collateral;
- the collateral binding procedure; and
- the alleged irregularities reported by the customer's family.
However, as of the writing of this article, substantive answers to these questions have not been received.
BRI Official Sends Message Alluding to Defamation
In a WhatsApp conversation received by the editorial team, the Head of BRI Unit Pamulang, with the initials RCS, sent a message alluding to potential defamation.
"Your post has been reviewed. Publication without basis and potentially false reporting constituting defamation. This will be informed later, sir."
When asked to explain which part of the reporting was considered inaccurate or required correction, the individual did not provide further explanation.
He only stated that an explanation would be given during a face-to-face meeting.
Editorial Team Remains Open to Right of Reply

The editorial team remains open to BRI's right of reply should they wish to provide explanations, clarifications, or additional information regarding the issues being reported in the future, in accordance with the provisions of Law Number 40 of 1999 concerning the Press and the Journalistic Code of Ethics.
