Pilar Targets Tangsel Stunting to Drop to 7.5 Percent
Tangsellife.com - The Tangerang Selatan City Government targets a reduction in stunting rates to 7.5 percent by 2026. This target is the main focus in efforts to accelerate the handling of stunting in Tangsel to 7.5 percent through cross-sectoral programs.
The Deputy Mayor of Tangsel, Pilar Saga Ichsan, stated that the current stunting rate in Tangsel is around 10.5 percent based on the latest survey results. This figure was previously recorded at 9.2 percent but has changed due to adjustments in assessment indicators from the central government.
Stunting in Tangsel to 7.5 Percent Becomes Main Target
The program to reduce stunting in Tangsel to 7.5 percent is a priority for the Tangsel City Government, involving all regional apparatus and related stakeholders. Pilar emphasized that he was appointed as the Head of the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team since the beginning of his term.
“I was appointed as the Head of the Stunting Handling Acceleration Team to coordinate all regional apparatus to jointly reduce the stunting rate,” said Pilar.
Stunting in Tangsel to 7.5 Percent Focuses on Cross-Sectoral Intervention
According to Pilar, the issue of stunting in Tangsel to 7.5 percent is not only related to nutrition but is also influenced by other factors such as sanitation, family economy, and maternal health.
The Tangsel City Government is currently mapping areas and community groups at risk of stunting to determine more targeted interventions.
“If the problem is sanitation, then sanitation will be improved. If it's the economy, then family income improvement will be assisted,” he explained.
The First 1,000 Days Are Key to Stunting in Tangsel
The handling of stunting in Tangsel to 7.5 percent is focused on the golden period, namely the first 1,000 days of life, starting from before pregnancy until the child is two years old.
Pilar emphasized that this phase is crucial for a child's growth and development to avoid stunting.
Tangsel Health Office Optimistic About Reducing Stunting
The Head of the Tangsel Health Office, Allin Hendalin Mahdaniar, expressed optimism that the stunting reduction target can be achieved through cross-sectoral collaboration.

Stunting Data in Tangsel Still Under Evaluation
Although surveys indicate an increase in the stunting rate to 10.5 percent, EPPGBM-based data shows a much lower figure, around 0.7 percent of toddlers weighed.
This data difference will continue to be evaluated to ensure that the policy for handling stunting in Tangsel to 7.5 percent is well-targeted.

The Tangsel City Government emphasizes that stunting cannot be handled by one sector alone. Cooperation is needed between the government, health workers, posyandu cadres, and the community.
