Traditional Games Become a Solution to Reduce Children's Gadget Addiction, This is the Story of Kampung Lali Gadget

However, excessive use can trigger various negative impacts, ranging from disruptions to physical and mental development to a decline in socialization skills.
Stemming from this condition, Achmad Irfandi initiated Kampung Lali Gadget (KLG) in Pagerngumbuk Village, Wonoayu District, Sidoarjo Regency, as an alternative space for children to re-enjoy traditional games and outdoor activities.
Kampung Lali Gadget was officially established on April 1, 2018, and has now developed into Desa Sejahtera Astra Lali Gadget, an edutainment area that combines education, cultural preservation, and community empowerment.
Traditional Games Revived
Through a cultural conservation program, children are invited to temporarily leave their gadget screens and return to playing various traditional games that are rarely encountered anymore.
In addition to traditional games, participants also engage in various activities such as cultural education, sports, animal introductions, and direct learning in the villagers' rice fields, rivers, and plantations.
This concept not only aims to reduce gadget dependency but also to reintroduce cultural values and local wisdom to the younger generation.
Awarded SATU Indonesia Awards
Thanks to its consistency in developing this program, Achmad Irfandi successfully won the SATU Indonesia Awards 2021 in the Education category.
The program implemented is also in line with the four pillars of Desa Sejahtera Astra, namely education, health, environment, and entrepreneurship.
Besides being a learning space, Desa Sejahtera Astra Lali Gadget has also developed into an educational tourism destination that provides economic benefits to the surrounding community.
Parents Also Educated
Kampung Lali Gadget not only targets children but also provides parenting education to parents.
Through these activities, parents are encouraged to be wiser in supervising gadget use at home so that children can utilize technology in a healthy and balanced way.
To support learning activities, Irfandi built a reading hut that children can use daily. Various supporting facilities such as a playground and wall climbing are also available thanks to the support of donors.
Building a Generation That Wisely Utilizes Technology
Currently, around 60 percent of the program participants come from Pagerngumbuk Village. The rest come from various schools and communities that have collaborated with Kampung Lali Gadget.
In the future, Irfandi is committed to strengthening the institution's legality through the establishment of an educational foundation so that the implemented programs can further develop and reach more children.
Through Kampung Lali Gadget, he hopes that the younger generation will not become victims of technological development, but rather be able to utilize gadgets positively without forgetting the importance of social interaction, culture, and outdoor activities.
