Former Head of Bank Bengkulu Branch Becomes Suspect in Rp5.8 Billion Pension Credit Corruption Case

Tangsellife.com - The Bengkulu District Attorney's Office (Kejari) has again named a new suspect in the alleged corruption case of the distribution of active pension multi-purpose credit at Bank Bengkulu. This time, the former Head of the Bank Bengkulu Jakarta Branch with the initials RH has officially been named a suspect after investigators found alleged involvement in the problematic credit distribution process during the period of 2018 to 2019.

The suspect designation was made by the Special Crimes (Pidsus) investigators of Kejari Bengkulu as part of the development of a case that had previously ensnared two former Bank Bengkulu officials.

Case Development That Has Already Ensnared Two Suspects

The Head of Intelligence Section of Kejari Bengkulu, Yuharmen Yakub, explained that RH is the third suspect in the case.

Previously, investigators had named JF, who was a former Consumer Credit Account Officer (AO), and FH, who served as the former Head of the Credit and Marketing Division of Bank Bengkulu.

According to Yuharmen, the designation of RH was made after investigators conducted a series of examinations and in-depth investigations related to the credit distribution process which was allegedly not in accordance with procedures.

"This suspect's role was to process, recommend, and approve the distribution of active pension multi-purpose credit in 2018-2019 improperly," said Yuharmen on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

Allegedly Approved Credit Not According to Procedure

Investigators suspect that RH played an important role in the stages from application to approval of active pension multi-purpose credit provided to dozens of debtors.

The credit was allegedly distributed without fulfilling the applicable provisions and procedures, thereby causing state financial losses.

In the investigation conducted, investigators found indications of irregularities in the credit granting process that took place during the period of 2018 to 2019.

RH is suspected of having approved a number of credits that later became problematic and could not be repaid according to the agreement.

State Losses Reach Rp5.8 Billion

Based on the preliminary investigation results, the alleged corruption has caused state losses amounting to Rp5.8 billion.

The losses originated from the total realization of active pension multi-purpose credit worth Rp10.75 billion distributed to 75 debtors.

Investigators assessed that there were a number of violations in the analysis, verification, and credit approval processes, which resulted in the emergence of problematic credit.

The amount of state losses is one of the bases for investigators in naming the suspects in this case.

Immediately Detained at Bengkulu Detention Center

After undergoing examination and officially being named a suspect, RH was immediately detained by Kejari Bengkulu.

He was placed in Class II Bengkulu Detention Center along with two other suspects to undergo an initial detention period of the next 14 days.

The detention measure was taken to facilitate the investigation process and prevent the possibility of the suspect destroying evidence or influencing witnesses.

Previously, JF and FH had already been detained since May 2026 in the same case.

Investigation Still Ongoing

Kejari Bengkulu confirmed that the investigation process has not stopped with the designation of these three suspects.

Investigators are still continuing to delve into the case to uncover the possibility of other parties being held responsible in the alleged corruption of the distribution of active pension multi-purpose credit.

In addition, investigators are also continuing to trace the credit approval flow and the internal mechanisms used when credit was granted to dozens of debtors.

This case has drawn attention because it involves regional banking officials and has caused billions of rupiah in state losses from credit distribution that was allegedly not in accordance with regulations.
