Tangsellife.com - The Tangerang Selatan City Government (Pemkot) is once again preparing an education assistance program for prospective students who did not pass the Public Junior High School (SMP Negeri) New Student Admission Selection (SPMB) and will continue their education in private schools in the 2026/2027 Academic Year.
This program is one of the steps taken by the Tangsel City Government to ensure that all school-aged children still have access to proper education, even though the capacity of public schools is still limited.
Through this program, each student who meets the requirements will receive education assistance amounting to Rp1.8 million.
Rp1.8 Million Assistance to Ease Parents' Burden
The Regional Secretary of Tangerang Selatan City, Bambang Noertjahjo, stated that the education assistance is a form of support from the regional government for the continuity of community education.
According to him, the assistance is provided to students attending private junior high schools that have collaborated and are affiliated with the Tangerang Selatan City Education and Culture Office.
"We, the Tangerang Selatan City Government, have prepared education assistance that can be utilized by prospective students who are not registered in public junior high schools, with a value of Rp1.8 million per student in schools that are already affiliated with the Education Office," said Bambang.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Tangerang Selatan City Education and Culture Office, Deden Deni, explained that this year's assistance is prioritized for students who were not accepted into public junior high schools through the SPMB pathway.
As Many as 94 Private Junior High Schools Included in the Assistance Program
Deden mentioned that as many as 94 private junior high schools in Tangerang Selatan have been designated as recipient schools for the education assistance program for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The program is expected to help alleviate education costs while encouraging children to continue their schooling up to the junior high school level.
"The assistance provided is Rp1.8 million for each student. This is to help ease the financial burden on parents so that their children can continue their education at the junior high school level, and the city government is present to support compulsory education for children according to their educational period," said Deden.

Program Expected to Expand Educational Access
This education assistance program is one of the solutions from the Tangerang Selatan City Government in facing the limited capacity of public schools, which has been a public complaint every year during the new student admission process.
With the provision of Rp1.8 million in education costs per student, the government hopes that no school-aged children in Tangerang Selatan will drop out of education solely due to economic factors or the limited number of seats in public schools.
In addition, this program also serves as a form of support for private schools that have been instrumental in helping to meet the educational service needs in Tangerang Selatan City.
