Civil Servants Must Convey Accurate Information, Minister PAN-RB: Key to Building Public Trust

Tangsellife.com - Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) Rini Widyantini emphasized the importance of the role of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in conveying accurate, open, and accountable information to the public.

According to Rini, public information disclosure is not only a legal obligation but also an important instrument in building public trust in the government.

The statement was made by Rini while attending the PPID Sharing 2026 event at the Ministry of PANRB Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (24/6/2026).

ASN Has an Obligation to Provide Correct Information

Rini emphasized that information is a strategic asset that can influence public decisions. Therefore, every ASN must ensure that the information provided to the public is correct, complete, and easy to understand.

"As ASNs, part of the government, we have an obligation to provide accurate information. Because one of our duties is to serve the public, for that we must create public trust," said Rini in her statement, Thursday (25/6/2026).

She added that information conveyed to the public must be done openly and measurably in accordance with the provisions of applicable laws and regulations.

Information Disclosure Strengthens Government Governance

According to Rini, public information disclosure is one of the important foundations in realizing good and transparent government governance.

The more open an organization is, she said, the greater its responsibility in building honest, clear, and credible communication with the public.

Therefore, the government needs to ensure that the information circulating is not biased, is easily understood by the public, and is capable of increasing public trust in state institutions.

Four Steps to Strengthen Information Disclosure

In her presentation, Rini revealed that there are four main steps that must be strengthened to improve the quality of public information disclosure.

The first step is to improve the quality of information conveyed to the public.

Second, maximize the utilization of information technology to accelerate access and dissemination of information.

Third, improve the capacity of state apparatus to be able to carry out public communication functions professionally.

Fourth, build good relationships with mass media and various stakeholders.

"Transparency and openness are important parts of building public trust in the government," she said.

ASN Must Be a Responsible Public Communicator

Rini emphasized that ASNs should not be careless in conveying information to the public. Every piece of information conveyed must be fact-based and not misleading to the public.

In addition to being an information provider, ASN also acts as a responsible public communicator in explaining various government policies.

"ASNs must not carelessly provide information, must not lie, and the delivery of policies must be clear, ethical, and easily understood by the public," she asserted.

Encourage Public Participation Through Information Disclosure

In addition to building trust, information disclosure is also considered capable of increasing public participation in the development process.

Rini cited the existence of the national complaint platform LAPOR! as a means for the public to convey aspirations and complaints to the government.

"If we are open, we can also build public participation. We have lapor.go.id for all government agencies to follow what the public is complaining about," she said.

According to her, input from the public can be used as evaluation material for the government to improve the quality of public services.

PPID Plays an Important Role in Information Disclosure

On that occasion, Rini also highlighted the important role of the Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) in ensuring optimal information disclosure.

PPID is tasked with managing, providing, and disseminating public information quickly, accurately, and in accordance with applicable legal provisions.

She emphasized that every ASN is a representation of the government in the eyes of the public, so public service must be the top priority.

"The duty of ASN is to serve the public. So, service to the public must be prioritized. The information provided must be truly accurate so as to build public trust in the government," she concluded.

PPID Sharing 2026 also featured a number of communication practitioners, including Becky Tumewu and Wahyu Wiwoho, who shared public communication strategies in the era of information disclosure and digital transformation.
