Tangsel Kejari Names Two Suspects in Sharia Pawn Corruption Case

Tangsellife.com - The Tangerang Selatan District Attorney's Office has named two individuals as suspects in a case of alleged corruption in a sharia pawn program, with losses reaching Rp1 billion.

The two suspects are allegedly involved in the misuse of aid funds that were intended for underprivileged communities and micro-enterprises in the Tangerang Selatan region.

Tangsel Sharia Pawn Corruption Harms Social Programs

Based on the investigation, one of the suspects is an administrative official at the institution managing the program. Meanwhile, the other suspect is from the private sector, acting as an implementing partner.

Both are suspected of manipulating documents, creating fund disbursement reports that do not reflect reality, and submitting fictitious claims for loans that were allegedly never received by the beneficiaries.

Investigators also found indications of fund diversion to personal accounts through several transactions that are still being traced.

Tangsel Kejari Reveals Audit Findings

This alleged sharia pawn corruption case was uncovered after a supervision report and audit findings were followed up by law enforcement officials.

The investigation lasted for four months, examining a number of documents and data of program beneficiaries.

Out of 47 sharia pawn applications examined, 12 were declared invalid because no evidence of beneficiaries, physical collateral, or other supporting documents could be found.

These findings became one of the bases for investigators to escalate the case status and name suspects.

One Suspect Detained, One Still at Large

The Tangerang Selatan District Attorney's Office stated that one suspect has been detained to undergo further legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, the other suspect is still being sought and is believed to have left the Jabodetabek area.

The prosecutor's office is currently coordinating with the police and relevant agencies to expedite the search for the suspect who has not yet been apprehended.

The Head of the Tangerang Selatan District Attorney's Office emphasized that the alleged sharia pawn corruption case is being taken very seriously because it involves social programs aimed at helping the community.

According to him, the misuse of aid funds not only harms state finances but also directly impacts the community that should have benefited from the program.

The Tangerang Selatan District Attorney's Office assures that the legal process will proceed according to applicable regulations, including further investigation if other parties are found to be involved.

This case also serves as an important reminder of the need for supervision and transparency in the implementation of social assistance programs to ensure they reach their intended targets and avoid budget deviation practices.
