UBK Students Demand Firm Action, BEM Officials Allegedly Received Money After Audience with Vice President Gibran
Tangsellife.com - The controversy surrounding alleged money receipts involving several executive board members of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of Bung Karno University (UBK) continues to widen and trigger pressure from within the campus. This issue emerged after a video confession from several students who previously participated in a demonstration and audience with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka went viral.
Now, UBK students are officially submitting demands to the parties allegedly involved, complete with a tight deadline for resolution.
Starting from a Demonstration and Audience at the Vice Presidential Palace
This incident began on Monday (15/6/2026), when dozens of students from UBK and MH Thamrin University participated in a protest in the Patung Kuda area, Central Jakarta. After the protest, student representatives were then invited to the Vice Presidential Palace for a direct dialogue with Gibran Rakabuming Raka and to convey six demands.
However, after the meeting, allegations of money flow to some student representatives emerged. The issue became more rampant after claims circulated on social media that the amount received reached hundreds of millions of rupiah, although without official proof.
Viral Confession Video, Vastly Different Amounts
The situation heated up further after an interrogation video went viral on social media. In the video, the Chairman of the UBK Faculty of Law BEM was reportedly admitting to receiving money, but the amount was much smaller, around Rp1.5 million to Rp2 million.
He stated that the money was used for the logistical needs of student activities. However, the narrative that developed on social media had already spread widely and sparked speculation of "political bribery" following the audience with state officials.
As of now, there is no legal evidence indicating any fund flow from the Vice Presidential Palace or any form of direct bribery. The campus and student organizations are reportedly still conducting internal investigations.
UBK Students' Demands Strengthen
Amidst the controversy, the Instagram account of the UBK Faculty of Law BEM uploaded an official statement of position on Monday (22/6/2026). In the statement, UBK students conveyed a number of strong demands to the parties allegedly involved.
Here are the points of the demands voiced:
- Make an open video statement regarding the willingness to be accountable for academic and social consequences
- Acknowledge and accept sanctions from the campus authorities and UBK students
- Disclose identities transparently for ethical and investigative processes
- Resign from all student organization positions
- Make a video confession of receiving money
- Sign a stamped statement letter regarding the admission of mistakes
Names Mentioned in the Demands
Several BEM officials listed in the students' demands include:
- Chairman of UBK Faculty of Law BEM Muhammad Abdimaludin
- Vice Chairman of UBK Faculty of Law BEM Rafly Maulana Akbar
- UBK Faculty of Law BEM Official Mubarak Tuasamu
- Chairman of FEB BEM Pujiono

Academic Sanctions to KIP-K Also Highlighted
Not only regarding organizational positions, students also demand quite severe academic sanctions. If proven involved, the grades for the Bung Karno Teaching (ABK) 1 to ABK 4 courses are requested to be canceled and replaced with an E grade.
For KIP-K recipients, students even request the return of educational assistance funds to the state if their involvement is proven.
Independent Investigation Team Formed
To ensure an objective process, UBK students urge the formation of an independent investigation team involving student elements. This team is expected to thoroughly and transparently investigate the alleged fund flow.
All these demands are given a deadline of 10 working days, from June 22, 2026, to July 6, 2026, and are stated to be binding.
Campus Authorities Also Witnessed the Forum
It is known that the delivery of these demands was witnessed by the Vice Rector III of UBK, FISIP UBK lecturer Faisyal Salomon, student affairs staff, and several student representatives.
To date, this case remains a public spotlight, especially due to conflicting information regarding the amount of money, the source of funds, and its connection to the meeting between students and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
