Cisadane River Pollution Case: When Will Suspects Be Named?
Tangsellife.com - The development of the alleged pollution case of the Cisadane River is still a public spotlight. To date, the case has entered the investigation stage at the South Tangerang Police, while the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH) has filed a civil lawsuit worth approximately Rp27 billion.
KLH Sues for Rp27 Billion
Deputy for Environmental Law Enforcement (Gakkum LH), Inspector General of Police Rizal Irawan, said the government is pursuing two handling paths, namely civil lawsuit and criminal proceedings.
“We have sued the court with a value of approximately Rp27 billion. The criminal aspect is handled by the Police,” said Rizal during a dialogue with river care communities in Cibinong, Bogor, Sunday (14/6/2026).
The lawsuit value is said to be based on the results of expert calculations regarding the impact of environmental pollution.
South Tangerang Police Elevate to Investigation Stage
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of South Tangerang Police, AKP Wira Graha Setiawan, confirmed that the alleged pollution case of the Cisadane River has been elevated to the investigation stage.
“Currently, it has entered the investigation process,” said Wira, Thursday (23/4/2026).
According to him, investigators are still examining a number of witnesses and experts to uncover the facts of the case.
South Tangerang Prosecutor's Office Examines Several Witnesses
Meanwhile, the South Tangerang District Prosecutor's Office has also summoned and examined a number of witnesses related to the alleged pollution and fire in the Taman Tekno BSD warehouse area.
Head of Intelligence at the South Tangerang Prosecutor's Office, Ronny Bona Tua Hutagalung, said the initial examination lasted for several hours to delve into the statements of the parties involved.
Activists Urge Suspect Designation
The Tangerang Environmental Activists Coalition (Kalung) urges law enforcement officials to immediately designate suspects in the case.
“It has been five months since the incident. We ask the authorities to immediately designate suspects and take action against those responsible for the alleged pollution of the Cisadane River,” said Kalung Advocacy Coordinator, Fale Wali.
He emphasized that his party will continue to monitor the legal process until there is certainty in handling the case.
